At last week’s Bingo Night at Cat Café Maui, we experienced something truly magical—proof that when a community comes together, miracles can happen. Two families visiting from Colorado fell head over heels for our playful kittens, especially little Buffalo, a sweet bundle of fur and love. The kids couldn’t resist his charm, and they were overjoyed at the thought of adopting him. But there was a hurdle: United Airlines couldn’t transport Buffalo from Hawaii to the mainland. Determined not to let this stand in the way, we posted on Facebook, reaching out to travel groups for help—but a day passed with no response. Then, as if the universe was listening, a family came to the café to celebrate a birthday. When they heard about Buffalo’s situation, they revealed they were flying back to Colorado in just two days—but not by commercial airline. They had a private plane and spontaneously agreed to help! Not only did they transport Buffalo to his new home, but they also adopted Enoki, a darling kitten with a gentle spirit. The story didn’t end there: the very next day, they called back and decided to adopt another kitten, Tahini, so their new furry family member wouldn’t be alone. As if by magic, this marked our 800th adoption—a testament to the power of aligning with your mission and the kindness of people who believe in it. How Turtle Found Her Forever Home

Timmy & Kate’s Maui Vacation Leads to Love Last month, Timmy and Kate visited our cat café while on vacation in Maui. They instantly fell in love with Wally, one of our sweet resident cats. After heading home to Washington, they kept following our journey on Instagram, watching as more cats found their forever homes. Then, fate stepped in. A few weeks later, they spotted our adorable tortoiseshell kitten, Turtle, and it was love at first sight! They reached out, eager to adopt her, but we needed a volunteer flyer to bring Turtle safely to Washington. A Match Meant to Be Through our Fly Hawaii Cats database, we checked for upcoming travelers heading to Washington. To our amazement, a volunteer named Kate had just signed up to fly a cat—the same name as Turtle’s new mom! It felt like pure destiny—Kate delivering to Kate! With everything secured through Alaska Airlines, Turtle’s journey to her forever home was set. She flew safely with Kate and her husband, arriving happy and healthy in Washington. A New Name with a Special Meaning Once home, Turtle was lovingly renamed Ahi June—a name full of significance. She arrived on the day her new mom’s cat-loving grandmother passed away. Her middle name was June, and she had a tradition of calling her cats by saying, “Tuna time!!” Wanting to honor both her grandmother and Turtle’s Hawaiian roots, they chose Ahi (which means “tuna” in Hawaiian) and added June as a tribute. Now, Ahi June is thriving in her forever home, all thanks to the kindness of her adopters and the Fly Hawaii Cats program. At Cat Café Maui, nestled in the heart of our island paradise, we often witness incredible stories of connection, love, and second chances. But every so often, a tale comes along that feels truly extraordinary—a story where all the pieces fall into place as if by divine Providence. This is the story of Spice and Doug (Now Koa), two kittens who found their forever homes thanks to the unwavering love of adopters, the dedication of volunteers, and a little bit of magic. Ashley was overwhelmed with joy when she learned the news: Spice was finally coming home. 🌟 The Journey Begins Spice, a five-month-old calico kitten with one eye, was originally spotted at the Maui Humane Society. She quickly captured the hearts of Ashley and David, kind souls from Boston. Spice was soon moved to Cat Café Maui, where Ashley contacted us, asking if there was a way we could bring her to Boston. As much as Ashley longed to adopt Spice, the logistics seemed daunting. Without a volunteer flying to Boston, there was no way to get Spice to her new home. For nearly a week, we prayed, hoped, and reached out to potential transporters. Each passing day made it seem less likely—but then, fate stepped in. ✨ Enter Robert and Aurora A few days later, a window shopper at the mall wandered into our café. Robert and Aurora, kind-hearted animal lovers, not only expressed interest in adopting but also mentioned they were flying to Boston that very day! It was as though the universe had delivered exactly what we needed. However, time was tight. To fly with an animal in the cabin, airline rules require a veterinary health certificate issued within 10 days of travel. Coordinating a last-minute appointment seemed impossible—but once again, the stars aligned. 🩺 A Race Against Time With a few phone calls and a lot of determination, we secured a vet appointment with Maui Direct Release & Aloha Veterinary Care. As luck would have it, a storm the day before had cleared the clinic’s schedule, making it possible for us to secure the necessary paperwork just in time. Thanks to their dedicated team, Spice and another kitten, Doug—a four-month-old black kitten—were cleared to travel together to Boston. Ashley was overwhelmed with joy when she learned the news: Spice was finally coming home. 💕 Happily Ever After Robert and Aurora stepped up as true heroes, ensuring both kittens made the journey safely. After 18 long months at the shelter, sweet senior girl Elsie is finally in her forever home, just in time for Thanksgiving! 🎉 This heartwarming story highlights the vital role that volunteers play in helping animals find their way to loving families and the incredible sense of community that can make it all happen. Elsie was originally surrendered to the Maui Humane Society with her brother, but she quickly became the longest-staying resident. Despite her affectionate nature, she struggled to find a home. That changed when she was transferred to Cat Cafe Maui, where her gentle spirit captured the hearts of visitors. In just two weeks, a lovely couple from Florida fell head over heels for her, hoping to welcome her into their family. However, just as they were ready to bring this sweet girl home, airline restrictions posed an unexpected challenge. They simply couldn’t fly her back to Orlando. 😢 But the story doesn’t end there—the magic of community began to unfold! Determined to unite Elsie with her new family, we turned to our network of compassionate volunteers and social media for help. Our community rallied with an outpouring of support, showcasing the unbreakable bonds formed between animal lovers. Then, with a stroke of luck, we found a fabulous flight attendant who volunteered to transport Elsie from Seattle to Orlando! ✈️❤️ But before Elsie could catch that flight, she needed to get to Seattle. This is where our amazing volunteers stepped up. Special shoutouts to Donya Izbicki and Sarah Haynes from Kitty Charm Farm—these incredible humans made it happen! They rallied their resources, organized an urgent transport for Elsie, and ensured she reached the airport on time. 🙌 The love and dedication poured into this mission truly embodied the essence of teamwork. As Elsie’s journey progressed, we encountered yet another hurdle—travel funds were low. But once again, our community came through! Our secret kitty angel stepped in to cover all the necessary travel and adoption costs, proving that together, we can make great things happen. 💰✨ With every effort combined, Elsie’s ride to Seattle was seamless, and she finally boarded her flight to Florida. After a whirlwind of community support and coordination, she arrived home just in time for the holidays. Surrounded by love, Elsie is now living the sweet life she has always dreamed of with her new family. This incredible journey reminds us that the path to finding forever homes for animals is often paved with the compassion and hard work of volunteers. Every mile traveled and every ounce of kindness contributed reinforced the notion that it takes a village to make a difference.
